The essence of this work, what gives it a truly original and philosophical character, is the entirely new demonstration of the real existence of Incubi and Succubi as rational animals, both corporeal and spiritual like us, living among us, born and dying like us, and capable of salvation or damnation. These creatures, endowed with sense and reason, entirely distinct from pure-spirited Angels or Demons, are none other than the Fauns, the Sylvans, the Satyrs of paganism, continued by our Sylphs, our Goblins, our Will-o’-the-Wisps ; and thus the chain of beliefs is renewed. On this ground alone, and without mentioning the interest of the details, this book will attract the full attention of serious readers : it will not fail them.
